Information You Provide:
- • Newsletter: your email address and when you confirmed it, if you subscribe
- • Purchases: your email address and order details when you buy the 30-Day Dinner Plan (payment is taken by our reseller, Paddle.com, which receives your billing details directly; card details never reach us)
- • Checkout waitlist: if checkout for the 30-Day Dinner Plan is temporarily unavailable and you ask to be told when it is back, your email address, the product and when you asked. It is used for that one notification only, never for the newsletter or marketing, and never shared
- • Reviews: the name, rating and comment you submit
- • Star ratings: when you tap a star on a recipe, the recipe, the number of stars, and two one-way hashes: one of a random ID kept in your browser (so tapping again changes your rating instead of adding one) and one of your IP address (to limit how many ratings one connection can give a recipe). No name, email or raw IP address is stored
- • Saved recipes: kept only in your own browser (local storage), not on our servers
- • Contact information if you reach out to us

We do not trade or rent your personal information, and we never sell it for money. We may share information in these limited circumstances:
- • Service Providers: companies that process data for us under contract: Vercel (hosting), Supabase (database for newsletter, reviews and purchases), Paddle.com (our reseller and merchant of record, which takes payments and handles sales tax), Stripe (payments for orders placed before October 2026), PostHog and Google Analytics (site analytics), and Namecheap Private Email (sending email). Some of them are in the United States; where data leaves the EEA/UK it is covered by their standard contractual clauses or equivalent safeguards
- • Advertising Partners: Our ad-management partner and its vendors receive data used to serve and measure ads. Some US privacy laws define this as a “sale” or “sharing” of personal information — see section 5 for how to opt out
- • Legal Requirements: When required by law or to protect rights and safety
- • Business Transfers: In case of merger, sale, or other business transaction
- • Consent: When you explicitly agree to share information
We use cookies for:
- • Remembering your saved recipes (stored in your browser)
- • Analytics with PostHog (page views, clicks and, outside the EEA/UK/Switzerland, session recordings with form inputs masked) and Google Analytics 4
- • Ensuring site security and preventing abuse
You can control cookies through your browser settings, but some features may not work properly if disabled. In the EEA, the UK and Switzerland, analytics and advertising cookies are only set after you agree in the consent banner described in section 5; until then PostHog runs without cookies and without session recording, and Google tags run in consent mode without storing identifiers. You can change your choice at any time from the privacy controls on the site.
Advertising on this site is managed by Journey by Mediavine, a service of Mediavine, Inc. Mediavine and its third-party advertising vendors use cookies, web beacons, device identifiers, and similar technologies to serve, measure, and personalise ads based on your visits to this and other websites. - • Our advertising partners and their vendors use cookies and device identifiers to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other sites.

Mediavine Programmatic Advertising (Ver 1.1)
The Website works with Mediavine to manage third-party interest-based advertising appearing on the Website. Mediavine serves content and advertisements when you visit the Website, which may use first and third-party cookies. A cookie is a small text file which is sent to your computer or mobile device (referred to in this policy as a “device”) by the web server so that a website can remember some information about your browsing activity on the Website.
First party cookies are created by the website that you are visiting. A third-party cookie is frequently used in behavioral advertising and analytics and is created by a domain other than the website you are visiting. Third-party cookies, tags, pixels, beacons and other similar technologies (collectively, “Tags”) may be placed on the Website to monitor interaction with advertising content and to target and optimize advertising. Without cookies you may not be able to take full advantage of the Website content and features. Please note that rejecting cookies does not mean that you will no longer see ads when you visit our Site. In the event you opt-out, you will still see non-personalized advertisements on the Website.
The Website collects the following data using a cookie when serving personalized ads:

This data includes usage data, cookie information, device information, information about interactions between users and advertisements and websites, geolocation data, traffic data, and information about a visitor’s referral source to a particular website. Mediavine Partners may also create unique IDs to create audience segments, which are used to provide targeted advertising.

If you are in the EEA or UK you can also complain to your local data protection authority. Where we rely on consent (analytics and advertising cookies in the EEA/UK), you can withdraw it at any time; otherwise we rely on our legitimate interest in running and improving the site, or on the contract when you make a purchase.
Security Measures:

Data Retention:
Newsletter addresses are kept until you unsubscribe. Checkout waitlist addresses are deleted once we have sent the notification that checkout is back, or after 90 days, whichever comes first. Purchase records are kept for as long as tax and accounting law requires (typically up to 7 years). Reviews and star ratings stay until you ask us to remove them. Analytics data and session recordings are kept for the retention period set in our analytics tools, and session recordings for no more than 90 days. Ingredients you type into the recipe finder stay in your browser and are not sent to us. You can request deletion of your data at any time.
Who we are:

Children:
TheRandomRecipe is not directed at children under 13 (under 16 in the EEA), and we do not knowingly collect their personal data. If you believe a child has given us personal data, email us and we will delete it.
